| ACHSE Continuing Professional Development
All ACHSE Branches offer Professional Development activities. Participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a Federal Council requirement for College members engaged in health management roles. Such members are entitled to use the post nominals CHE. These post nominals indicate that the member has undertaken at least 25 hours of continuing professional development in the College year and has submitted a personal CPD return to the National Office.
Much of this CPD is through participation in the Professional Development programs offered by College Branches. Each event on these programs has College CPD points allocated which equate to the number of hours involved in full participation.
Effective August 2006 and to show greater recognition of members attending College events (as opposed to non College events), CPD points will be weighted accordingly. Members attending College events will be rewarded with 100% weighting ie 6 CPD hours will translate to 6 CPD points. Non-college activities will be counted at 75% of hours recorded ie 10 CPD hours would translate to 7.5 CPD points.
The College will undertake those calculations when assessing members' CPD logs. Members simply need to continue to log their CPD hours.
The following calendar of Branch Continuing Professional Development events is provided on a national basis. Please contact your local Branch either through the link provided with the event listing or through the contact details on the individual Branch section of the Web Page, for any further details.

| 16-19 | CASEMIX CONFERENCE 2008 - Casemix Evolution; extending the boundaries
Location: Adelaide Convention Centre
About:
Casemix-based funding is the dominant form of funding of public hospitals in many states and territories in Australia. Casemix aims to fund on individual outcomes, rather than on a historical level of funding.
On 16-19 November 2008, the Department of Health and Ageing will host ‘The Casemix Evolution: extending the boundaries’, which aims to view casemix in a holistic manner, across acute, sub-acute and non-acute sectors, including:
- Its place in broader health reforms;
- International approaches;
- Workforce issues; and
- Sustainability of our current approach to casemix.
The Conference will bring together hospital and health service managers, clinicians, service providers, private health insurers, state and territory health department and hospital representatives and academics to discuss current and future casemix issues on a national and international level.
